Two 12-oz bags frozen mixed berries
1 box white cake mix (no pudding)
1 can of diet 7-up or sierra mist (clear soda)
Place frozen fruit in a 9×13 baking dish. Add dry cake mix over the top. Pour soda slowly over cake mix. DO NOT stir the cake mix and the pop – this will give you a ‘crust’. If you stir the two, you will have a cake like topping.
Bake 350 for 45-50 min.
You may be able to use frozen peaches instead of mixed berries.
One said: I did the same thing with 2 Big cans of peaches in heavy syrup then add cinnamon on top then yellow cake mix then add brown sugar, and melted butter over it and bake at 350 for 45 min. yumm!
This reminds me of dump cake, which my Aunt Ethel Raw taught us to make when I was a child.
1 large can crushed pineapple
1 can cherry pie filling
1 yellow or lemon cake mix
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 or 2 cubes of butter or margerine
Preheat oven to 350.
Grease 9x13x2″ pan.
Dump in pineapple, undrained, so it is even.
Dump in cherry pie filling, spreading as evenly as possible but not stirring.
Dump cake mix on and spread over fruit, without stirring.
Sprinkle nuts over cake mix.
Cut and butter/margerine into pats and dot over all.
Bake at 350 for one hour or until nice and brown. (check at 45 minutes)
